Big Things For Skellie

Although I’m sure this is going to be all over the blogosphere in the next five minutes or so, I wanted to let y’all know that the very awesome Skellie of Skelliewag has launched a sister site, AnyWired.

What’s AnyWired? You’ll be glad you asked…

“Whether you’re chained to a desk and dreaming of freedom or enjoying a 4-Hour work week in Rio, this blog will provide the knowledge you need to be more flexible, more mobile and more productive.

At Anywired, we don’t believe web apps and Firefox extensions are enough alone to make you a better web worker (though sometimes they help).

We offer a regular diet of tips, tricks, hacks, guides, must-see links and reviews to help you work when you want, from where you want to be.”

Go. Read. Comment. Say nice things. Skellie will soon be taking over the world and you’ll want to be able to say “I knew her when…” If you have a home business, the odds are pretty good that your “home” won’t be the same at the end of your business’ life as it is at the beginning. That’s where Anywired comes in.

  1. I already say that (you can check her comments and my archives for proof). Skellie rocks. She’s smart, and a damn fine writer. And I don’t say that about just anyone.

  2. I saw you there on post numero uno. She does indeed rule.

  3. Hey Naomi, you were quick :) Your blog was the first place where I found out about this site - although that might just be because your blog is the first one I read in the morning.

    OK, off to work!

  4. I usually consider myself a pretty smart girl, but time zones throw me for a loop. I just cannot wrap my head around the fact that I’m debating whether or not to go to bed and Jarkko’s on his way to work. I just don’t get it. I try and I try but the fact that the sun is on it’s way up in Finland screws me right up.

  7. Hey Naomi, I really do appreciate the support. I’m privileged to have people rooting for me right from day 1 — I couldn’t ask for anything more. Thank you!

Hope to see you around :-)

  8. You are a posting machine lately!

Everyone keeps asking me where I find awesome sites and 80% of the time it’s from you lol.

  9. great site, great idea. i don’t need much money to be happy (porn is free on the web, so i’m pretty good) so maybe i can get that 4 hour work week down to 2 hrs 37 min and if i move to mexico (puerto escondido here i come) i could probably cut that down to 37 minutes.

  10. Naomi, you’re right - it’s tricky. It feels really weird when you have to say good night although it’s morning where you are…

It sounds a bit like science fiction. I can talk real time with someone who is many hours behind me in time. Isn’t that a time machine?

  13. sounds like direct competition for lea … it is interesting to see the many phases of an industry. hmm I should blog on that.

  14. Finally, finally I find time to comment on your fabulous blog Naomi, after you so actively comment on mine…sorry about that.

The travel gets in the way a bit, especially when Pres. Bush’s visits shut down a whole city meaning it’s impossible to leave (sorry - still annoyed about having to walk 3.5km to the airport in Dubai on Monday to catch our flight to Jo’burg in the nick of time…let it go, Lea).

Shane - yes stiff competition indeed although I think Anywired is actually a great compliment to my blog…I don’t blog too much about the ins and outs of the technical stuff of being a web worker and as Skellie herself says, she’s not a very experienced traveller which is an element that is covered on my blog.

I also think there’s something to be said for being able to give advice on things you’ve actually done…like work from different countries etc. so there’s an additional aspect to the LIP blog which possibly won’t be on Skellie’s for a while…that is until she starts travelling!

There’s plenty of room for all blogs - esp. if their overall goal is the same - to help others live their dream lives.
