Copywriters

Probably the thing we end up repeating the most on this blog is that copy sells. Bad copy equals bad sales. The end. If you think you need help finding the right way to word your sales page, brochures, ad campaigns, or just need to bounce some ideas off someone, these are the people to call.

James Chartrand, MenWithPens

James and the boys over at Men with Pens have created an empire. While you could probably hire them to write anything, they particularly excel at website copy. Many of my clients have worked with the Pen Men and the most common feedback I get is that they effortlessly capture your voice and brand. Many writers need you to explain exactly what you want said but let’s face it, if you knew what you wanted to say, you’d say it yourself. These guys get voice. They get brand. And honestly, they will say whatever you need said far better than you could ever say it yourself.

Taylor Lindstrom, Good Ink Inc.

Taylor Lindstrom is who I go to when I need something written and I have to pretend like I wrote it. As far as I can tell, she’s a treehugging hippie, but that is not to be held against her. She does her best work with businesses who are working towards something big and important. If you could ever describe what you do as a mission, she is probably the gal for you. Whether you need to get more clients or recruit the best volunteers or rally the troops to support your cause, Taylor can probably convince anybody to do anything and have even your mother think that it was you who wrote it. Well, you after you got a BFA in writing.

Rebecca Leigh, SmartFreshWriting

Rebecca’s tagline is Smart, Fresh Writing, and it’s not an exaggeration. I have been recommending her from the moment I saw her stuff. While she can and does write a lot of stuff — in a previous life she had a Very Serious Job in the Australian Government Library or something equally awesome — what I like best is her ability to write copy for websites that don’t want to be too sales-y. She understands that you don’t have to sound like a used car salesman to make a decent living, and she’s an expert and translating the vague, disorganized vision in your head into, well, smart, fresh writing.
