Stop The Presses: Ron Paul Hearts Digg

UPDATE: Sadly, Michael’s valiant effort was buried. I’m obviously shocked. And appalled. And awed. And really upset. Crying, a little bit.

UPDATE 2: The heroic Jon is trying to revive it!

Long Live Ron Paul Hearts Digg!

Hello friends,

There’s been a lot of talk in the blogosphere of late about Digg. Is it dead? Is it dying? Is it thebestestthinginthewholewideworld?

And, most importantly, can anything with Ron Paul in the title make the front page?

So I’m writing a blog post the other day, just a little bit drunk, and thought it would be funny to make fun of Digg. Then some comedian thought it would be a good idea to submit it to Digg. (Hi Michael!) Five diggs and I’m already getting nasty comments from Diggers. Including one calling me ” typical voter…. doesn’t know anything about the candidates but probably will vote on how she thinks is cute..” If I wasn’t Canadian, he’d be totally, like, 1200% right. Herein we discuss the relative merits of Ron Paul and Ron Jeremy.

Anyway, if you want to take a look, come on down.

Yours,

  2. Digg is the definition of mob mentality. While there are always dissenters; if Digg loves you, Digg loves you hard - same goes for hate.

There really is no Digg middle-class to speak of. The only way to make the front page and be seen as a Digg Angel(TM) is to be a Ubuntu using, Vista hating Mac owner, plus a Ron Paul supporting iPhone user with a distinct distate for all things Bush.

Or you can _BE_ hated deeply by Digg, and make the front page just as easily.

    Oh, and… Ron Paul.

  6. Hi there–first, love your blog. Just recently became a regular reader. The information and narrative, and tone is awesome. Keep it up!

Anyway, your post about Digg is right on. No matter what your political leanings are, Digg it seems has been reduced to a Ron Paul loving, Bush bashing wasteland, being driven by the mob mentality.

I like Digg–it replaced Slashdot.org for me for geek news a while ago, but lately I’m considering removing it from my Google Reader because I’m sick of hearing how Bush lied and Ron Paul is our new savior. Again, this isn’t a political rant, just echoing some amazement and frustration. :)

Keep the posts coming! Thanks, Jeff
